Flying Pig 3D Shoot & Fundraiser February 5, 2017 Great turnout this year! 142 archers registered, 122 scorecards turned in. Congratulations to Mark Omel!! Top score of the shoot: 286 + 21 X's 28 3D Animal targets (including one Flying Pig!): 295 total points and 28 X’s possible. Scores for hits on the Flying Pig are double (20, 16, 10 with the X-ring worth 25 points) We raised just under $2000 from the registration fees, concessions, and prizes. The Jessop Weapons Collection at the Museum of Man For many years, San Diego Archers have heard about a mysterious, incredible archery collection hidden away in the basement of the Museum of Man. We walk within a few feet of this collection as we wander through the Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range, especially during tournaments when pulling arrows from Targets 1 & 4, right next to the basement of the Museum (or in my case, when I am looking for my arrows BEHIND Targets 1 & 4….) This Event will be a Fundraiser for Preservation of The Jessop Ancient Weapons & Archery Collection at The Museum of Man (in the building right behind Target #1!!) This Collection is the earliest connection to archery in Balboa Park, as far back as ~1917, and may be the reason archery exists in Balboa Park today. Morley Field Range Lane Reservations Hello Fellow Archers, The San Diego Archers allow groups and coaches to reserve lanes at the Morley Field Archery Range upon request. Any group may send an email request to the San Diego Archers specifying the dates, times and number of lanes needed. Reservations must be approved by the San Diego Archers. PLEASE NOTE: The $2 day use fee applies to each archer in the group or class using lanes at the Morley Range.
