Important Volunteer Work Party This Sunday

(This is not a scheduled monthly work party, a truck load of material for making target bales is being delivered)

When:  This Sunday, February 22, 10am-1pm.

Where:  Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range.

Bring:  Sturdy shoes, long sleeves and pants, work gloves, water.

Work Focus:  Unload new bale material from delivery truck, load onto quad trailers, stack in bale making area.

Please R.S.V.P  by email (sandiegoarchers@yahoo.com) if you can help out this Sunday.

Coffee and bagels will be provided.

San Diego Archers Volunteers make every single bale in each target butt at the Balboa and Morley Field Archery Ranges.

It all starts with bales of the raw material (shredded wood fibers, not straw).  Volunteers load the raw material into a special compressor, compress to ~500 psi, band, then stack them until needed. As the bales in target butts break down, especially the center bales, volunteers move new bales to the butt, unstack the bales, remove broken down bales, replace and restack new bales, and finally, move the broken down bales back to bale making area for recycling/disposal.

 Thank you,

San Diego Archers
