Honor Our Military Unmarked 3D Results – 04 November 2017

Thank you to everyone who participated in the San Diego Archers’ Honor Our Military 3D Shoot on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2017. We had a great turnout: 57 archers registered, 54 scorecards turned in. We welcomed many first-time participants, both military & civilian, saw many long-time friends who have been away for a while join us again. A grand time was had by all (this was the most fun I’ve had at a shoot in years!).

A special thank you to all the active & retired military who joined us. It was an honor to shoot with you. We are so glad you joined us and hope to see you at many more shoots in the future!

Thank you to the many volunteers who showed up bright & early (in the dark!) to set up the targets (some very clever shots, too!) and to the many volunteers who stepped up and helped take down the targets afterwards. We could not run these tournaments without the support of our great volunteers.

Next year’s November 3D will be a double treat! We are moving the Iron Turkey 3D Challenge from the first weekend in March to the first weekend in November 2018 (with coupons for turkeys for first place winners). This 3D will still be an Honor Our Military event, so all active and retired military are invited to shoot for FREE!

**Honor Our Military Unmarked 3D Round**
This SATURDAY, November 4, 2017, 9am
(The Race for The Cure 5K Walk will be strolling through Balboa Park on Sunday)
Registration: 7:30am – 8:45am
Shoot begins at 9am

The 3D Round includes:
28 3D targets
1 arrow per target
NO RANGE FINDERS ALLOWED!!

A wide range of high quality Rhinehart and Mackenzie targets are set in various hunting scenarios. Only one arrow per target is allowed unless mulligans have been purchased. A maximum of two mulligans and one or two doe tags may be purchased at registration for an additional $1 each.
As an unmarked shoot, you have to estimate the distance to the target yourself without the assistance of a range finder. This is a difficult and challenging aspect of these shoots, so don’t let your shooting partners know what you think the distance is!

Scoring: 10-8-5
Maximum Score: 280
Mulligans and Doe Tags:
If you missed or scored low with the first arrow, a mulligan allows you to take another shot at a target. If you use a mulligan, your score is determined by that second arrow, even if you score worse than the first arrow. You may use a second mulligan on the same target. Your score is determined by the last arrow shot.
There will be 1 or 2 buck-doe spreads in the field, where the doe placed between the buck and the archer. If you hit the doe and do not have a doe tag, you score -5 on the target. If you have a doe tag, you score zero. You cannot use a mulligan if you hit the doe, whether or not you have a doe tag. If you hit the buck or miss completely, you may use a mulligan and your score is determined from that second arrow.

For 15 years and older, the longest distance is 50 yards.
For Youths (12-14 yo), the longest distance is 40 yards.
For Cubs (11 yo & under), the longest distance is 25 yards.

Entry Fees: Active Duty & Retired Military (with ID): FREE!
