Hannah has been closing in on the top Male Free Style scores this year. We were expecting to list her with the High Score of the Shoot at least a few times in 2017, but sadly for us, she is moving at the end of the year.

The San Diego Archers will miss you and wish you well with your new job!

NOTE: Jason shot half the Round with his 1 year old on his back (a la Danni Miller!) and was shooting on par for 1st place if baby duties didn’t take priority. Nice shooting, Jason. Also, Don DeLeon shot four targets on his new knee, great to have you back, Don (even briefly!)

This Sunday, December 18, 2016

At the Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range

Registration opens at 7:30 am

Registration closes at 8:45 am

Shoot begiins at 9am

The Field Round includes:

28 2D Paper Field Targets

4 Arrows per Target

Maximum Score: 560

The Field Round is a field archery tournament of 28 2D paper targets, firing 4 arrows per target from WHITE colored stakes for a total of 112 arrows. There are 3 scoring zones on each target. Each arrow scores either 3 points fro the black outer ring, 4 for the white middle ring or 5 for the black bull’s eye. There is a center ‘X’ ring to the inner 5 point zone.

Field

A total of 20 points is possible per target, a perfect round is 560.

Field Rounds are at ‘even’ (5 yd) distances up to 80 yards, with the shortest distances measured in feet.

Targets may have different shooting positions:

1) All four arrows shot from one marked stake.

2) “Fan”: Each arrow is shot from a different marked stake, spread in a fan pattern, each stake at the same distance to the target.

3) “Walk Up”: Each arrow shot from a different marked stake at decreasing distances to the target.

(e.g., one arrow each at 45, 40, 35, 30 yards; or two arrows each at 45 and 40 yards.)

For Youth, under 15, the longest distance is 50 yards.

For Cubs, under 12, the longest distance is 30 yards.

Entry Fee: $10 for SDA members & Active Duty Military

$15 for non-members.

GREAT shooting today, Everyone!

Three things to note: Dave Dooney, shooting in the Adult Male Bowhunter Free Style (AMBHFS) class had the top score, 270 + 14 X’s. Most often, the top score is in the AMFS class.

Second, Hannah Herald, shooting in the AFFS class, had the third highest score of the shoot, tying with Mark Omel and Brandon Grossman in score, with the X-count breaking the three-way tie: Mark had 11 X’s, Hannah had 9 (placing her 4th overall), Brandon had 8….so close!

Third, Jayson Bentcik’s score was incorrectly written on his scorecard at the end of the shoot. His correct score is 269 + 9 X’s, putting him in 1st place AMFS and 2nd highest score of today’s shoot.
