Unscheduled Work Party-Jan 16, 2016

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Unscheduled Work Party This Saturday, January 16th at the Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range, 8am.

The Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range is a mess after the heavy rains last week in San Diego. Fallen trees are blocking some of the paths. These need to be cut up and moved. Trails need to be cleared of other fallen debris.

If you are able to help for even an hour or two, please send an email to SanDiegoArchers@yahoo.com for more details about joining the work party. Wear sturdy shoes, bring work gloves and safety goggles if you have them!

The San Diego Archers truly appreciate your help. Both archery ranges in Balboa Park are maintained by volunteer efforts alone. If each member (non-members welcome, too!) contributed just one hour of volunteer work on either range, we would have two of the nicest looking ranges in California.

Anyone who volunteers at a work party shoots for free in their next tournament! Coffee and bagels will be available for volunteers.

Animal Round – 17 Jan 2016

**Animal Round**

This Sunday

The San Diego Archers

Will host the Animal Round

This Sunday, January 17, 2016

At the Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range

Registration opens at 7:30 am

Registration closes at 8:45 am

Shoot begiins at 9am

The Animal Round includes:

28 2D Paper Field Targets

1-3 Arrows per Target

Maximum Score: 588

Animal Rounds use 2D paper targets with ‘uneven’ distances between 5 and 60 yards, reminiscent of the Hunter Round. The rules and scoring are significantly different.

The archer begins at the first YELLOW shooting stake of the target and shoots the first arrow. If it hits, you do not have to shoot again. If it misses, you advance to the second shooting stake and shoot a second arrow, then, to the third shooting stake for a third shot, if needed.

There are 3 scoring zones: Bonus Kill Zone, Kill Zone and Hit Zone. Scoring is based on where you hit and with which arrow. The first arrow shot is scored 21, 20 or 18. The second arrow is scored 17, 16 or 14, and the third arrow is scored 13, 12 or 10. A scoring chart is included on your scorecard.

The best score per target is 21, a perfect round is 588.

For Youth, under 15, the longest distance is 50 yards.

For Cubs, under 12, the longest distance is 30 yards.

Entry fee: $15 per person, $10 for members.

Active Duty Military: $10.

Please arrive at the Balboa Park Archery Range with plenty of time to register.

To ensure we start on time, registration will close at 8:45 am

Shooting starts at 9:00 am
