Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range

Registration opens at 7am

Shoot starts ~9am

40 targets, two arrows per target.

Come Prepared!!

This is an all day event, with over 200 archers from California, Arizona, Nevada and Mexico competing for top honors.

Food, snacks and drinks will be available in the practice area and on the North side of the Cabrillo Bridge. However, with this many archers, it may be a long while in between food stations.

Bring: water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, hat.

Donations for the “Opportunity Drawing” are still being accepted! So far, prizes include a top-of-the-line compound bow, recurve bows, compound and wooden arrows, target bags, etc. Please send an email to: info@sandiegoarchers.com,  if you have something you would like to donate (new equipment, high quality equipment you are no longer using, gift cards, etc.)

Volunteers on the day of the tournament shoot for free! If you would like to help out, you must notify us in advance by sending an email to: info@sandiegoarchers.com. This event (and all other San Diego Archers events) are driven entirely by volunteers.  Opportunities include: setting up and taking down targets, supervising the donation prizes table, assisting with registration & food concessions, etc.

Visitors must stay with their group of archers. Entering and leaving the range after shooting begins is not permitted, except for emergencies. Everyone stepping onto the range, whether shooting or not must sign a waiver (even if you have signed one earlier this year.)

Emergencies: Alert the nearest SDA Official, they will safely escort people off of the archery range, if needed.

See you all on Sunday!!

The San Diego Archers

Will host the Unmarked 3D Round

This Sunday, June 7, 2015

At the Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range

Registration opens at 7:30am

Registration closes at 8:45am

Shoot begins at 9am

A general San Diego Archers meeting to follow immediately after the awards are handed out. If you would like to volunteer at our 48th Annual King Arthur Tournament, Sunday, June 21st, please join us at the picnic tables between the practice area and the Alcazar Parking Lot. Volunteers are needed to help with registration, selling raffle tickets, etc.

The Unmarked 3D Round includes:

28 3D targets

1 arrow per target

NO RANGE FINDERS ALLOWED!

A wide range of high quality Rhinehart and Mackenzie targets are set at unmarked yardage in various hunting scenarios.  Only one arrow per target is allowed unless mulligans have been purchased.  A maximum of two mulligans and one doe tag may be purchased at registration for an additional $1 each.

Scoring: 10-8-5

Maximum Score: 280

As an unmarked shoot, you have to estimate the distance to the target yourself without the assistance of a range finder.  This is a difficult and challenging aspect of these shoots, so don’t let your shooting partners know what you think the distance is.

Mulligans and Doe Tags:

If you missed or scored low with the first arrow, a mulligan allows you to take another shot at a target.  If you use a mulligan, your score is determined by that second arrow, even if you score worse than the first arrow.  You may use a second mulligan on the same target.  Your score is determined by the last arrow shot.

There will be 1 or 2 buck-doe spreads in the field, where the doe placed between the buck and the archer.  If you hit the doe and do not have a doe tag, you score -5 on the target. If you have a doe tag, you score zero.  You cannot use a mulligan if you hit the doe, whether or not you have a doe tag.  If you hit the buck or miss completely, you may use a mulligan and your score is determined from that second arrow.

For 15 years and older, the longest distance is 50 yards.

For Youths (12-14 yo), the longest distance is 40 yards.

For Cubs (11 yo & under), the longest distance is 25 yards.

Entry fee $15 per person, $10 for members

Active Duty Military: $10

Note: As with all 3D shoots – We will shoot come Rain or Shine.

Please arrive at the Balboa Park Archery Range with plenty of time to register.

To ensure we start on time, it will be necessary to close registration at 8:45am.

Shooting starts at 9:00am.
