Please Note: Occasionally, archers are entered in the wrong bow class.  Every attempt is made to correct these mistakes before the results are posted. If you notice you have been listed in the wrong bow class, please contact the San Diego Archers and the correction will be made. The following archers were listed in the Adult Male Bowhunter (AMBH) class in the August 3D shoot, when they should have been in the Adult Male Bowhunter Freestyle (AMBHFS) class: KC Cook, Chris North, Larry Hazelip, Brian Vesco & Jeff Vesco. After the corrections were made, David Bailey placed 1st in AMBH.

August 3D Scores Posted

Results from August 3D Shoot have been posted….finally!

My apologies for the delay in posting the results from the August 3D shoot. Please remember that everyone who sets up and takes down targets, runs the registration and keeps track of scores are all volunteers. Occasionally, our work, family, and personal obligations will take precedent over our volunteer duties for the San Diego Archers.

Also, there was a little bit of grumbling about the long registration line last Sunday. Our 3D shoots have become very popular (yeah!), with over 120 archers registering for the shoot. To speed up the registration, we have a few very kind volunteers who step up and ask to help (instead of grumbling). They will walk the line filling in scorecards and calculating the amount due at the visitors table.  This is a tremendous help and really speeds things up. (NOTE: Scorecards are not valid unless they have the date stamp from Brad.) Many of our usual volunteers were at the Big Bear Shoot last weekend. We finally had ONE person who offered to help (Thank you, Will!) If you see something that should be done better or faster, please don’t hesitate to step up and offer to help. Thank you. PK

Unmarked 3D – 2 August 2015

HEADS UP!

Our September 3D Round will be a fund raiser for another very nice charitable organization. Last year, we had a great turnout at our fundraiser for the EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Warrior Foundation. Stay tuned for more details!

 Unmarked 3D Round

This Sunday

The San Diego Archers

Will host the 3D Round

At the Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range

This Sunday, August 2, 2015.

Registration opens at 7:30am

Registration closes at 8:45am

Shoot begins at 9am

The 3D Round includes:

28 3D targets

1 arrow per target

NO RANGE FINDERS ALLOWED!!

A wide range of high quality Rhinehart and Mackenzie targets are set in various hunting scenarios.  Only one arrow per target is allowed unless mulligans have been purchased.  A maximum of two mulligans and one doe tag may be purchased at registration for an additional $1 each.

As an unmarked shoot, you have to estimate the distance to the target yourself without the assistance of a range finder. This is a difficult and challenging aspect of these shoots, so don’t let your shooting partners know what you think the distance is!

Scoring: 10-8-5

Maximum Score: 280

Mulligans and Doe Tags:

If you missed or scored low with the first arrow, a mulligan allows you to take another shot at a target.  If you use a mulligan, your score is determined by that second arrow, even if you score worse than the first arrow.  You may use a second mulligan on the same target.  Your score is determined by the last arrow shot.

There will be 1 or 2 buck-doe spreads in the field, where the doe placed between the buck and the archer.  If you hit the doe and do not have a doe tag, you score -5 on the target. If you have a doe tag, you score zero.  You cannot use a mulligan if you hit the doe, whether or not you have a doe tag.  If you hit the buck or miss completely, you may use a mulligan and your score is determined from that second arrow.

For 15 years and older, the longest distance is 50 yards.

For Youths (12-14 yo), the longest distance is 40 yards.

For Cubs (11 yo & under), the longest distance is 25 yards.

Entry fee: $15 per person,  $10 for members

Active Duty Military: $10

Note: As with all 3D shoots – We will shoot come Rain or Shine.

Please arrive at the Balboa Park Archery Range with plenty of time to register.

Please send any questions or comments to: SanDiegoArchers@yahoo.com.
