ASRA 3D – 6Sept2015

San Diego Archers Unmarked 3D Round

Fundraiser to benefit the

Adaptive Sports & Recreation Association

This Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015

At the Balboa Park Rube Powell Archery Range

The San Diego Archers will match all money collected at this unmarked 3D shoot and donate all proceeds to the Adaptive Sports & Recreation Association.

The Adaptive Sports & Recreation Association’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children and adults with physical disabilities through sports and recreation. ASRA works to coordinate and foster a program of adaptive sports for individuals with a permanent disability that prevents them from participating in sports and athletics by providing competitive league sports, recreational team sports, instructional camps, sports clinics, and offers other adaptive sports based on need and interest.

Please join us this Sunday!

If you are not able to participate in the 3D shoot, you can still donate your entry fee (or more!) to the ASRA by sending a check for “SDA-ASRA” to:

San Diego Archers, P.O. Box 2205, La Mesa, CA 91943

Registration opens at 7:30am

Registration closes at 8:45am

Shoot begins at 9am

The 3D Round includes:

28 3D targets

1 arrow per target

NO RANGE FINDERS ALLOWED!!

A wide range of high quality Rhinehart and Mackenzie targets are set in various hunting scenarios.  Only one arrow per target is allowed unless mulligans have been purchased.  A maximum of two mulligans and one doe tag may be purchased at registration for an additional $1 each.

As an unmarked shoot, you have to estimate the distance to the target yourself without the assistance of a range finder. This is a difficult and challenging aspect of these shoots, so don’t let your shooting partners know what you think the distance is!

Scoring: 10-8-5

Maximum Score: 280

Mulligans and Doe Tags:

If you missed or scored low with the first arrow, a mulligan allows you to take another shot at a target.  If you use a mulligan, your score is determined by that second arrow, even if you score worse than the first arrow.  You may use a second mulligan on the same target.  Your score is determined by the last arrow shot.

There will be 1 or 2 buck-doe spreads in the field, where the doe placed between the buck and the archer.  If you hit the doe and do not have a doe tag, you score -5 on the target. If you have a doe tag, you score zero.  You cannot use a mulligan if you hit the doe, whether or not you have a doe tag.  If you hit the buck or miss completely, you may use a mulligan and your score is determined from that second arrow.

For 15 years and older, the longest distance is 50 yards.

For Youths (12-14 yo), the longest distance is 40 yards.

For Cubs (11 yo & under), the longest distance is 25 yards.

Entry fee: $15 per person,  $10 for members

Active Duty Military: $10

Note: As with all 3D shoots – We will shoot come Rain or Shine.

Please arrive at the Balboa Park Archery Range with plenty of time to register.

2015 Tuesday League-last week

2015 Tuesday Evening League.

6pm, Morley Field Archery Range

The last round of the Tuesday Evening League is next week!!!

A Knock Out-Final Elimination Round will be set up, with 4-5 fun, challenging targets (including two 3D targets!). Longbow & recurve bows will have a handicap (they shoot half the distance of compound bows).

Can you guess which one is the compound target and which is the trad target?? The nice grouping above the right target is courtesy of yours truly. Looks like I used my 30-yard pin, instead of 20. 😉

Trad_vs_Compound

Every Tuesday evening from April through September!

If you want to improve your archery skills, this is the place to do it! The Tuesday Evening League is competitive, yet, still friendly, fun and a good value for the money….. What more could you want?

Only $5 per shoot (or save and pay $30 per leg up front.)

Our handicap scoring system levels the playing field and allows all contenders to battle for the league championship title.
