Types Of Shoots

Novelty

pigs-might-flyNov­el­ty shoots have var­i­ous themes, with names like:

The King Arthur Tour­na­ment reg­is­tra­tion is from 7:00am — 8:45am.

All oth­er nov­el­ty event reg­is­tra­tions are from 7:30am — 8:45am.

All shoots begin at 9:00am.

Entry fees vary for each nov­el­ty shoot.

Animal

Animal TargetThe Ani­mal Round is a 28 tar­get field archery round shoot­ing at paper tar­gets of ani­mal images from YEL­LOW-col­ored stakes. The dis­tance is marked, usu­al­ly at odd yardages between 5 and 60 yards.

The scor­ing is based on your 1st suc­cess­ful hit out of 3 arrows.
There are 3 scor­ing zones: Bonus Kill Zone, Kill Zone, Hit Zone.

You only need shoot your 2nd and 3rd arrows if you have not scored with the pre­vi­ous arrow.

Scor­ing works like this:

Reg­is­tra­tion from 7:30am — 8:45am.

Shoot starts at 9:00am.

Hunter

Hunter TargetThe Hunter Round is a field archery round of 28 2D paper tar­gets, fir­ing 4 arrows per tar­get from RED-col­ored stakes.

There are 3 scor­ing zones on each tar­get. Each arrow scores either 3 points for the out­er black ring, 4 for the mid­dle black ring or 5 for the cen­ter white ring. There is a cen­ter X ring to the inner 5-point zone.

Add up each arrow;s score to give a total score out of a max­i­mum 560.

Yardages are marked and are in ‘uneven’ incre­ments (not always in mul­ti­ples of 5 yards) from the tar­get vary­ing between 33 feet up to 70 yards.

Reg­is­tra­tion from 7:30am — 8:45am.

Shoot starts at 9:00am.

Entry Fee: $10 for SDA mem­bers and Active Duty Mil­i­tary, $15 for non-mem­bers

Field Round

Field TargetThe Field Round is a field archery round of 28 2D paper tar­gets, fir­ing 4 arrows per tar­get from WHITE-col­ored stakes. There are 3 scor­ing zones on each tar­get. Each arrow scores either 3 points for the out­er black ring, 4 for the mid­dle white ring or 5 for the cen­ter black ring. There is a cen­ter X ring to the inner 5-point zone.
Add up each arrow’s score to give a total score out of a max­imun 560.
Yardages are marked and are at ‘even’ (5 yard) dis­tances up to 80 yards, with the short­est dis­tances mea­sured in feet.
Reg­is­tra­tion from 7:30am — 8:45am.

Shoot starts at 9:00am.

Entry Fee: $10 for SDA mem­bers & Active Duty Mil­i­tary, $15 for non-mem­bers.

3D Target

3-D TargetThe 3D Rounds are usu­al­ly a one arrow per tar­get shoot. The tar­gets are dense foam repli­cas of life-like, three-dimen­sion­al ani­mals, set­up in var­i­ous hunt­ing like sce­nar­ios.

The shoot will either be unmarked or range find­er approved. An unmarked shoot

An “unmarked shoot” means that you have to esti­mate the dis­tance to the tar­get your­self with­out the assis­tance of a range find­er. This is a dif­fi­cult and chal­leng­ing aspect of these shoots, so don’t let your shoot­ing part­ners know what you think the dis­tance is! If the shoot is des­ig­nat­ed as range find­er okay, you can use your range find­er to deter­mine the dis­tance to the tar­get.

900 Round

900 RoundThis is a 90 arrow (900 points) round, shoot­ing 5 ends of six arrows at each of 60–50-40 yards for Adults, 50–40-30 yards for Youth and 30–20-10 yards for Cubs.

Each arrow scores 10, 9 , 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 or 0 (for a miss) points based on the scor­ing ring hit on the tar­get.

Reg­is­tra­tion from 7:30am — 8:45am. Shoot starts at 9:00am.

    San Diego Archers Club Rules and Appli­ca­tion Forms

    Respon­si­bil­i­ties of Mem­ber­ship
    1. San Diego Archers are respon­si­ble for and are expect­ed to assist in the main­te­nance of both the field range in Bal­boa Park and the tar­get range at Mor­ley Field by attend­ing the month­ly work par­ties.
    2. Mem­bers should attend all club meet­ings.
    3. Mem­bers must coop­er­ate with and assist club offi­cers in plan­ning club activ­i­ties and imple­ment­ing these activ­i­ties.
    4. Mem­bers must assist in the pro­mo­tion of archery and should con­duct them­selves accord­ing to the code of sports­man­ship at all times.
    5. Mem­bers are required to observe all archery safe­ty rules. No blunts or broad-head arrows are allowed at either range. They must see to it that guests and vis­i­tors on the range also observe these safe­ty rules and prac­tices.
    6. While bow-hunt­ing, mem­bers are required to con­duct them­selves accord­ing to all state hunt­ing reg­u­la­tions, coop­er­at­ing with game offi­cials, prac­tic­ing con­ser­va­tion and, in gen­er­al, bring­ing cred­it to the San Diego Archers.

    All mem­bers and par­tic­i­pants in any SDA tour­na­ment must sub­mit a signed waiv­er each year.
    All par­tic­i­pants in the Annu­al King Arthur Tour­na­ment must sub­mit a sep­a­rate­ly signed waiv­er each year.
     

    Fees
    The dai­ly range fee for both the Bal­boa Park Rube Pow­ell Archery Range and Mor­ley Field Ranges is $2.00.
    Range fees are due “before” shoot­ing on either range, and may be paid at the range entrance via the yel­low met­al pole with cash pay­ment slot at top, or range fees may be paid online (com­ing soon).

    Beware:
    No per­son will accept pay­ment for range use except dur­ing offi­cial tour­na­ments.
