Field Target

The Field Round includes:
28 2D Paper Field Targets
4 Arrows per Target
Maximum Score: 560

The Field Round is a field archery tournament of 28 2D paper targets, firing 4 arrows per target from WHITE colored stakes for a total of 112 arrows.  There are 3 scoring zones on each target. Each arrow scores either 3 points for the black outer ring, 4 for the white middle ring or 5 the black bull’s eye. There is a center X ring to the inner 5 point zone.

Add up each arrow’s score to give a total score out of a maximum 560.

Field Rounds are at ‘even’ (5 yds) distances up to 80 yards, with the shortest distances measured in feet.

Targets may have different shooting positions:

1) All four arrows shot from one marked stake.

2) “Fan”: Each arrow shot from a different marked stake spread in a fan pattern, with each stake at the same distance to the target.

3) “Walk Up”: Each arrow shot from a different marked stake at decreasing distances to the target. For example, one arrow each at 45, 40, 35, 30 yards, or two arrows each at 45 and 40 yards.

Younger shooters

For Youths (12-14 yo), the longest distance is 40 yards

Thank you to EVERYONE who joined us and generously donated their time & money to the San Diego Archers fundraiser to benefit the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue.

San Diego Archers Supports Local Coastal German Shepherd Rescue With a $3,712.00 Donation

San Diego Archers of SanDiegoArchers.com, San Diego, California, presented a check for $3,712.00 to the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of San Diego this past month.

___

The San Diego Archers have matched 100% of the just under $1900 from registration fees, concessions, Flying Pig mulligans & prizes, donating $3,712 to the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue!

Officers of the San Diego Archers club, Duane Norman (President) and Terry Limone (Secretary), spoke at the presentation.

“Each year, the San Diego Archers club puts on a fundraiser for local charities, called the Flying Pig 3D Tournament and Fundraiser. At the end of the event, our club matches the proceeds of the event 100% and presents a check a local charity voted by our members. This year our archery club members chose to support the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of San Diego.

In prior years, we donated to organizations like the: Adaptive Sports & Recreation Association, EOD Warrior Foundation , Museum of Man-Jessop Archery &, Weapons Collection Preservation, SDA Member’s Danielle & Will Miller Family and Cure SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), Shelter to Soldier, The Wounded Warrior Battalion Archery Clinic, and Triple B Adventures.

We are glad this year to present a check for $3,71200 to the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of San Diego!”

___

The Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of San Diego is a San Diego based 501(c)3 non-profit charity dedicated to providing new beginnings for homeless German Shepherds who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, relinquished by their owners or just left at local shelters to await an uncertain future. All prospective adoptive families must complete an online application followed by a telephone interview and then receive a home visit before a German Shepherd is placed in their forever home. https://www.coastalgsrsd.org/

Thanks again to all the volunteers who helped with registration, managing the donations, target set up & take down. We couldn’t do this fun event without you!

THE FLYING PIG 3D SHOOT
~Range Finders Allowed~

If you know anything about the local flora and fauna of the Balboa Park area of San Diego, you will be aware of not only the existence but also the migratory patterns of the Pink Lesser Spotted Rhinehart Flying Pig.

For those of you who are less familiar with this legendary exodus, all indications point to the migration beginning on Sunday morning and lasting until around noon.  During this time we anticipate that each person will get at least one chance to shoot at this unusual creature during its majestic flight across the Balboa Park skies (plus 27 other targets)!

So, get out your bows and start practicing!

This is a 28 target, 2 ARROW per target, novelty 3D shoot. You’ll find the Pink Lesser Spotted Rhinehart Flying Pig and a wide range of other high-quality Rhinehart and Mackenzie targets set at unmarked yardages in various hunting scenarios.

3D SHOOT DETAILS

* Scoring: 10-8-5 (Flying Pig scoring: 25-20-16-10)

      * Maximum Score: 580
      * Mulligans & Doe Tags ($1 each):
If you missed or scored low with the first or second arrow, a mulligan allows you to take another shot at a target.  If you use a mulligan, your score is determined by that mulligan arrow, even if you score worse than the original arrow.  You may use a second mulligan on the same target.

There will be 1 or 2 buck-doe spreads in the field, where the doe is placed between the buck and the archer.  If you hit the doe and do not have a doe tag, you score -5 on the target. If you have a doe tag, you score zero.  You cannot use a mulligan if you hit the doe, whether or not you have a doe tag.  If you hit the buck or miss completely, you may use a mulligan and your score is determined from that mulligan arrow.

FLYING PIG MULLIGANS
Additional mulligans may be purchased for the Flying Pig! ($1 each cash or online).

Entry Fee:
$10 for SDA members & Active Duty Military
$15 for non-members

Please arrive at the Balboa Park Archery Range with plenty of time to register.
