**VOLUNTEER AFTER PARTY

A few of the target butts closest to the parking lot will be moved so a construction crew can begin building a fence on the birm behind the butts.  A fence is being built on top of the birm to increase the overall height.  If you would like to help move a couple of the heavy bales after the 900 Round; any and all help would be appreciated!

In the near future, the target butts at Morley Field Archery Range will be reconfigured into a staggered alignment, similar to the practice area at the Balboa Range.  A single shooting line AND shooting rules will be established:

Everyone shoots at the same time.  Everyone pulls their arrows at the same time. (Finally!)

More improvements are coming to Morley Field Range, Check back here for more details!

The San Diego Archers 900 Round includes:

30 arrows per distance

Adult Distances:  60, 50, 40 yards

Youth Distances: 50, 40, 30 yards

Cub Distances: 30, 20, 10 yards

There will be a five-minute time limit to shoot six arrows.

Unmarked 3D – 4 May 2014

ATTENTION ARCHERS!

Unmarked 3D Round

This Sunday

The San Diego Archers

will host the Unmarked 3D Round

this Sunday, May 4, 2014.

Registration opens at 7:30 am

Registration closes at 8:45 am

Shoot begins at 9am

The Unmarked 3D Round includes:

28 3D targets

1 arrow per target

A wide range of high quality Rhinehart and Mackenzie targets are set at unmarked yardage in various hunting scenarios.  Only one arrow per target is allowed unless mulligans have been purchased.  A maximum of two mulligans and one doe tag may be purchased at registration for an additional $1 each.

 Scoring: 10-8-5

Maximum Score: 280

As an unmarked shoot, you have to estimate the distance to the target yourself without the assistance of a range finder.  This is a difficult and challenging aspect of these shoots, so don’t let your shooting partners know what you think the distance is.

Mulligans and Doe Tags:

If you missed or scored low with the first arrow, a mulligan allows you to take another shot at a target.  If you use a mulligan, your score is determined by that second arrow, even if you score worse than the first arrow.  You may use a second mulligan on the same target.  Your score is determined by the last arrow shot.

There will be 1 or 2 buck-doe spreads in the field, where the doe placed between the buck and the archer.  If you hit the doe and do not have a doe tag, you score -5 on the target. If you have a doe tag, you score zero.  You cannot use a mulligan if you hit the doe, whether or not you have a doe tag.  If you hit the buck or miss completely, you may use a mulligan and your score is determined from that second arrow.

Entry fee $15 per person, $10 for members

Note: As with all 3D shoots – We will shoot come Rain or Shine.

Please arrive at the Balboa Park Archery Range with plenty of time to register.

To ensure we start on time, it will be necessary to close registration at 8:45am.

Shooting starts at 9:00am.
