Types Of Shoots
Novelty
Novelty shoots have various themes, with names like:
The King Arthur Tournament registration is from 7:00am – 8:45am.
All other novelty event registrations are from 7:30am – 8:45am.
All shoots begin at 9:00am.
Entry fees vary for each novelty shoot.
Animal
The Animal Round is a 28 target field archery round shooting at paper targets of animal images from YELLOW-colored stakes. The distance is marked, usually at odd yardages between 5 and 60 yards.
The scoring is based on your 1st successful hit out of 3 arrows.
There are 3 scoring zones: Bonus Kill Zone, Kill Zone, Hit Zone.
You only need shoot your 2nd and 3rd arrows if you have not scored with the previous arrow.

Hunter
The Hunter Round is a field archery round of 28 2D paper targets, firing 4 arrows per target from RED-colored stakes.
There are 3 scoring zones on each target. Each arrow scores either 3 points for the outer black ring, 4 for the middle black ring or 5 for the center white ring. There is a center X ring to the inner 5-point zone.
Add up each arrow;s score to give a total score out of a maximum 560.
Yardages are marked and are in ‘uneven’ increments (not always in multiples of 5 yards) from the target varying between 33 feet up to 70 yards.
Registration from 7:30am – 8:45am.
Shoot starts at 9:00am.
Entry Fee: $10 for SDA members and Active Duty Military, $15 for non-members
Field Round

The Field Round is a field archery round of 28 2D paper targets, firing 4 arrows per target from WHITE-colored stakes. There are 3 scoring zones on each target. Each arrow scores either 3 points for the outer black ring, 4 for the middle white ring or 5 for the center black ring. There is a center X ring to the inner 5-point zone.
Add up each arrow’s score to give a total score out of a maximun 560.
Yardages are marked and are at ‘even’ (5 yard) distances up to 80 yards, with the shortest distances measured in feet.

Shoot starts at 9:00am.

3D Target
The 3D Rounds are usually a one arrow per target shoot. The targets are dense foam replicas of life-like, three-dimensional animals, setup in various hunting like scenarios.

An “unmarked shoot” means that you have to estimate the distance to the target yourself without the assistance of a range finder. This is a difficult and challenging aspect of these shoots, so don’t let your shooting partners know what you think the distance is!
